This Cellular Jail is no ordinary jail. This prison house was first used by the British during their colonial rule to imprison unabiding Indians and freedom fighters. If you have ever heard the words ‘kaala paani’, you would be surprised to know that these words were used for this Cellular Jail.

9) Watch the only active volcano in India

Best time to visit:

The best months to visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the months from November to mid-May as the Andaman weather around this time is the most suitable for outdoor activities and water sports. The islands experience winters from the months of October to March, after which, the summer months start off. The temperatures range from 20 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius in the winters while the summer season sees a temperature range of 24 degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius.

Reaching Andaman and Nicobar Islands:
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands can only be accessed by air or boat as they are located in the deeper end of the Southern Coast. The Veer Savarkar International Airport is directly connected to the cities of Chennai and Kolkata via several flights.

You can choose between Air India and Jet Airways if you plan to visit Andaman. Air Deccan and Air Sahara are also other flight operators that have regular flights from Chennai and Delhi.
